Dr. Alice Turdo received her Master’s degree cum laude in Medical Biotechnology and Molecular Medicine in 2011 at the University of Palermo and in the 2015, she gained a PhD in Immunopharmacology from the same Institution.

As a graduate student and then as a PhD candidate in Immunopharmacology, she attended the laboratory of Prof. Giorgio Stassi at the University of Palermo where she developed skills to perform in vitro and in vivo experiments on stem cells isolated from mammary carcinomas. In 2013, she moved to the University of Michigan, where he joined the Experimental Breast Cancer Research Laboratory. Under the supervision of Prof. Max Wicha, Alice was responsible for the characterization of circulating cancer cells in the blood of metastatic breast cancer patients. Prior to her PhD graduation, she came back to Italy to rejoin Prof. Stassi’s laboratory and won a 3-year scholarship from the Italian Association for Cancer Research.

Since 2019 she is a Research fellow (MED/50) at the University of Palermo.
